韩国光州广域市（2012年8月）

韩国光州广域市是韩国全罗南道首府所在地，面积501.31平方公里，人口141万，是韩国第七大城市，也是韩国西南部的行政、军事、经济、社会、文化枢纽城市。

光州是世界三大光产业先进城市之一，是韩国国内最大电子家电产业中心和最高标准的模具中心，三星电子、大宇电子、起亚汽车等大型企业聚集于此。近年来，光州市集中发展了以光电产业、汽车产业、数字家电产业为主的三大主力产业，以高新零部件材料、新能源、文化教育、设计产业为主的四大战略产业。光州是各大文化艺术活动举办的热门城市，光州国际美术双年展、光州国际设计双年展、光州泡菜节等在此举办，使其日益成长为韩国文化中心都市。

2012年8月，洛阳市与光州市缔结为友好交流城市。

Gwangju Metropolitan City is the capital of Jeollanam-do, South Korea. It covers an area of 501.31 square kilometers and has a population of 1.41 million. It is the seventh largest city in South Korea and an administrative, military, economic, social and cultural hub in the southwestern area of South Korea.

Gwangju is one of the world's three major cities with advanced optical industry. It is the largest center for electronics and home appliances industry and the center for highest standard mold in South Korea. Samsung, Daewoo, Kia Motors and other large enterprises gather here. In recent years, Gwangju has concentrated on the development of three major industries, including optoelectronic, automobile and digital home appliance, and four strategic industries, including high-tech parts and materials, new energy, culture and education, and design. Gwangju is a popular city for major cultural and artistic events. The Gwangju Biennale, Design Biennale, and Gwangju Kimchi Festival and other international events are held here, making it a cultural center of South Korea.

In August 2012, Luoyang and Gwangju established a link as friendly exchange cities.
