俄罗斯陶里亚蒂市(2000年4月)
陶里亚蒂市位于莫斯科东南1000公里处的俄罗斯欧洲部分,地处伏尔加河中游,东距州府萨马拉市100公里,人口73.55万,面积332平方公里,为萨马拉州第二大城市。陶里亚蒂具有良好的交通和通讯基础设施。1958年修建的河港装备先进、设施完善,年货物处理量达数百万吨,是俄罗斯最大的河港之一。陶里亚蒂的前身是建立于1737年的斯塔夫罗波尔,意为“神圣的十字架之城”。1950年,因建设伏尔加河水电站,旧城被古比雪夫水库淹没,在伏尔加河左岸重新崛起了这座新城。1964年,为纪念意大利共产党人帕尔米罗·陶里亚蒂而更名为陶里亚蒂市。该市文化教育发达,陶里亚蒂工学院是俄罗斯名牌大学。
2000年4月,洛阳市与陶里亚蒂市缔结为友好城市。
Togliatti, Russia (April, 2000)
Togliatti is located in the European part of Russia, 1000 kilometers southeast of Moscow. It is in the middle reaches of the Volga River, 100 kilometers east of the state capital Samara.It has a population of 735,500 and an area of 332 square kilometers, which makes it the second largest city in Samara. Togliatti has favorable transportation and communication infrastructure. The river port, built in 1958,with advanced equipment and complete facilities and an annual cargo handling capacity of millions of tons, is one of the largest river ports in Russia. Togliatti was formerly known as Stavropol, which was established in 1737, meaning "the holy city of the cross". In 1950, due to the construction of the Volga River hydropower station, the old city was flooded by the Kuibyshev Reservoir. However, the new city rose on the left bank of the Volga River. In 1964, it was renamed as Togliatti in memory of the Italian Communist,Palmiro Togliatti. The city has developed culture and education, and Togliatti Institute of Technology is a famous university in Russian .
In April, 2000, Luoyang and Togliattibecame sister cities.
